The 48" works extremely well, and the quality of light is nothing less than superb. In fact, when I used to shoot with it a lot, I'd get frequent inquiries from other photographers about what type of modifier I was using to produce such soft, creamy light. The 60" really requires a studio strobe. At that point, one might as well simply utilize a 60" softbox.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12082332681053419827noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2861382536659708602.post-70870263808902855622011-12-10T19:13:10.542-08:002011-12-10T19:13:10.542-08:00Thanks for sharing the link to this vendor. Perhaps all of the Joe McNally books that I've read have contributed to that! Some of my best work over the years has come from the strategic use of multiple speed lights, in conjunction with the creative latitude available using Nikon's CLS. For many applications, it sure beats setting up multiple studio strobes and modifiers when working on-location! I'm looking forward to experimenting with these mini-softboxes!

Ron
www.EtherealPixels.comUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12082332681053419827noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2861382536659708602.post-19869391465295816162011-07-31T01:10:08.511-07:002011-07-31T01:10:08.511-07:00Great advice, Jay. However for beginners, who are interested in building a fashion or (fashion oriented) portfolio, using whatever you have on hand to show off the skills that are typically associated with that genre. At the moment, my current fashion portfolio reflects fashion trends of 1-3 years ago... editors can see I am capable of shooting the style, and I then do a wardrobe pull to showcase current trends in an editorial. (which will be 'old' in a few months to a year anyways)

Shooting fashion 'style' is different than shooting a fashion editorial. One is done to showcase what's NEW, definitely, the other just showcases skills and abilities.Las Vegas Photoshoot Locationshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09373456730259307228noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2861382536659708602.post-45365263195928961532011-04-11T10:45:18.627-07:002011-04-11T10:45:18.627-07:00Good advice, but there's really NO reason to e...Good advice, but there's really NO reason to ever shoot "fashion" without having a stylist pulling clothes from designers.
